Who Do You Know?

The “Pioneers in Research” series, part of the BESSEr@KIT project, highlights how many significant female scientists, thinkers, and role models are missing from the public sphere. In 75 episodes to date, women from science, culture, and society have been featured and linked to questions of visibility, discrimination, and role models. The series has not only resonated with students but has also sparked dialogue with other stakeholders.

Studying - it's eezi!


The eezi introductory module helps first-year students in the KIT School of Computer Science settle into their studies and promotes orientation, a sense of belonging, and equal opportunity. It combines lectures, tutorials, exercises, and personal support with topics such as learning strategies, academic organization, financial aid, and mental health. A diverse student body benefits particularly, as eezi breaks down invisible barriers and provides targeted information at just the right moment. By being firmly integrated into the semester, the module strengthens self-efficacy, networking, and academic success.

Counseling and Support for Refugees and Migrants at KIT


The Coordination Office at KIT supports refugees and migrants with academic guidance, the application process, and integration into the higher education system. It offers personal counseling, office hours, information sessions, and support in their native languages provided by student ambassadors. Through networking and referral services, it helps them find appropriate resources in Karlsruhe and the surrounding area.

Defusing Polarized Discourses


The KoKoKom project investigates how constructive conversations about sex and gender can be held despite polarized debates. The focus is on how common ground for dialogue emerges or is lost in science communication. The research is complemented by dialogue formats such as mock parliamentary debates and World Cafés, in which academia, practitioners, and the general public engage in conversation with one another.
