Finance
The Service Division Finance (SE1) consolidates procurement, sales, accounting, controlling, and budget and financial management, and ensures comprehensive financial management and processing of all business processes through close collaboration among its business units.
KIT’s Accounting Business Unit (BuHa) records all financial transactions in accordance with the principles of the German Commercial Code (HGB).
The Budget and Finance Business Unit (HF) manages KIT’s financial position through controlling, budgeting, liquidity management, and internal accounting (cost and performance accounting), provides decision-relevant information, and thereby ensures proper, forward-looking, and efficient financial management.
General information, including rules and regulations, sample calculation sheets for quotation calculations and the associated basis (letter K), terminology, etc., can be found here (in German only).
HF also supports and advises professors in allocating the financial resources promised in the equipment offer. Further information on the implementation of the individual and sometimes complex commitments can be requested from the contact persons listed under the keyword "Offer of Staff, Resources, and Equipment (Realization of the Offers Made During the Appointment Negotiation)".
Since budget responsibility at KIT is organized decentrally, professors can request access to the reporting system to monitor and control their allocated financial resources. Further information on the reporting system can be found here (letter B, in German only).
