From Imposter Syndrome to Empowerment – Thriving as a Woman in Academia
This event will be held in English and is a 6h workshop including a lunch break (no catering provided)
This interactive workshop is designed for women in academic settings who want to better understand and permanently overcome self-doubt and typical patterns of imposter syndrome. Participants reflect on personal and structural challenges, identify individual triggers and internal beliefs, and develop new, empowering perspectives.
Through hands-on exercises, discussions, peer coaching, and practical application methods, they build their self-confidence, visibility, and professional presence in their day-to-day academic lives.
Background
Imposter syndrome is highly prevalent in academia—especially among women navigating competitive, high-performance environments. Structural challenges, gender bias, and high expectations often lead to:
- Persistent self-doubt
- Fear of not being “good enough”
- Underestimation of achievements
- Reduced visibility and participation
This workshop creates a safe and empowering space to address these challenges and transform them into strength
Participants will:
- Develop a deeper understanding of imposter syndrome in academia
- Recognize gender-specific dynamics and systemic influences
- Strengthen self-confidence and self-awareness
- Learn to reframe limiting beliefs and inner narratives
- Gain practical tools to navigate self-doubt in professional settings
- Increase visibility, voice, and ownership of their expertise
The costs per participants depend upon final participant number and will be covered by each respective research consortium.
