Get Resilient – for women in academia
This event will be held in English and is an 8h workshop including a 1h lunch break (no catering provided)
The target group for this event is female researchers working in DFG-funded research consortia [Collaborative Research Center (CRC), Research Training Group (RTG), others]
Academic careers can demand a great deal of us: navigating uncertainty, managing pressure and setbacks, balancing competing expectations, and continuing to perform when the stakes are high. For women in academia, these challenges can be compounded by additional pressures around visibility, expectations, boundaries, and belonging.
The good news is that resilience is not simply a personality trait. It is a set of skills that can be developed and strengthened.
This workshop explores the psychological and practical tools that help us stay grounded, resourceful, and effective under pressure. Participants will develop greater awareness of their emotional responses, learn strategies for regulating stress and anxiety, and explore how to respond to setbacks without becoming overwhelmed or losing confidence. We will also work with reframing techniques that can help transform perceived threats and failures into manageable challenges and opportunities for action.
The aim is not simply to cope with pressure, but to develop the inner resources to navigate demanding moments with greater clarity, confidence, and resilience.
After the workshop, participants will...
- Understand the elements that make resilience.
- Be able to implement tools from cognitive behavioral coaching and positive
- psychology to manage stressful situations.
- Have techniques to regulate their emotions.
- Be able to utilize re-framing strategies in order to gain a new perspective and
